The Heavy Heavy Athens Concert reviews
F1 Cold, Wind, and Rainy
The F1 race at COTA was a complete disaster due to the rain during the whole event, except for the concert (double yeah) and the F1 race (yeah). The track may be top-notch for the cars, but it was chaotic for the attendees. The bottom of the stairs for the track crossover to our seats was flooded with water, forcing us to wade through or jump 5 feet to the stairs. Several other walkways were also completely flooded, leaving no way around without sinking into mud. If they want this event to be top-tier, they need more concrete. I mean, this is South Central Texas, concrete is "cheap": build it and they will come. I would like to see improvements such as more concrete, better water drainage, and higher berms for the seating in turns 4,5,6 (higher elevation). One of the worst parts was the closure of a large parking lot, where tickets ($100) were exchanged for $25 shuttle rides. These shuttle rides involved hours of waiting to return from the track. After three days of rain, the Elton John concert, which was fantastic, took place on the grass. Only around 500 out of 5000 people had seats or concrete. It felt like an afterthought. However, the race was enjoyable and there were plenty of restrooms (port-a-potties) available, with overall organization being fairly good.
